Badimalika Trek is a beautiful and remote trekking adventure in the Far-Western region of Nepal. The trek takes you through peaceful villages, dense forests, alpine meadows, rugged mountain landscapes, and sacred sites.
The main highlight of the trek is Badimalika Temple, situated at an altitude of around 4,200 meters. From the higher parts of the trek, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding Himalayan ranges while experiencing the traditional culture and lifestyle of the local communities.
Badimalika Trek is ideal for travelers looking for an authentic, peaceful, and less-crowded trekking experience in Nepal.
This is a remote-area journey for
travelers who value cultural depth, wild landscapes and expedition-style logistics over predictable comfort. Flights, roads, camps or basic lodges may be affected by weather, local supply and seasonal access. The itinerary is built around conservative pacing, permit requirements and local support, with contingency decisions made according to trail conditions, group health and the realities of operating far from major infrastructure.
The planned route unfolds in distinct stages: Kathmandu to Dhangadhi by Flight and Drive to Dadeldhura; Martadi to Budha Krodh; Explore Badimalika and Trek Back to Triveni; Dhawal Dwar to Lamagadh; Martadi to Dhangadhi by Drive; and finally Departure from Nepal. These are the main stages of the programme rather than a promise of fixed daily timings. The detailed itinerary gives the daily walking or transfer descriptions, accommodation arrangements, altitude notes and adjustments that may be needed in practice.
Town nights use simple hotels or guesthouses. Ridge and temple nights may use very basic shelters or tents; festival periods can be crowded.
The journey may use a Kathmandu–Dhangadhi flight and long drives toward Dadeldhura, Martadi or the selected trailhead. Road conditions can significantly change travel time.
Expect steep ascents, long ridge walks, basic facilities and exposure to wind or rain. Train for consecutive 5–7 hour hill days. The route climbs from road towns to high ridges and the temple area. Walk steadily, hydrate and report symptoms even though the maximum elevation is lower than many base-camp treks.
Lower districts may be warm, while the ridge is cold, windy and exposed. Rain, fog, hail or early snow can reduce visibility and alter camps. April–May and October–November generally offer clearer trekking conditions. The Janai Purnima pilgrimage follows a lunar date and requires year-specific planning.
A licensed guide manages permits, pacing, accommodation and emergencies. Porters or pack animals are assigned according to the package and route; baggage limits and loads are explained before departure. A licensed local guide leads the journey, manages pace and logistics, monitors weather and guest wellbeing, and coordinates accommodation, permits and transport. Porters, cooks or additional field staff are assigned according to the route, group size and confirmed package.
Badimalika is not normally treated as a restricted-area trek. Any current municipality, shrine, camping or route permission is confirmed for the selected season and trail.
Insurance is mandatory and must cover the maximum trekking altitude, treatment, trip interruption, emergency evacuation and repatriation. Provide policy contacts before arrival. The guide provides first response and decides whether to rest, descend or seek rescue. Ground or helicopter evacuation may be delayed by terrain, weather, aircraft and insurer authorization.
Follow local and park rules; ask before photographs; dress respectfully at sacred places; avoid single-use plastic; stay on trails; protect wildlife and plants; use local services fairly; carry waste out. Important Things to Know Before Booking Far-West itineraries require flexibility. Flights, drives, trailheads, camps and times may change because of weather, roads, rivers, snow, health, permits or local instructions.
Confirmation requires the stated deposit, passport copy and traveller details. The invoice sets balance dates, currency and charges. Permits and flights may become non-refundable after issue. Charges depend on notice and unrecoverable permits, flights, hotels, staff, transport and supplies. Safety or access may require route, accommodation or transport changes under the published terms. Who Is This Trip For? The Badimalika Trek is suited to fit, culturally respectful travelers who value pilgrimage traditions and remote hill landscapes. Trail facilities are simple, and festival or pilgrimage periods may change access, accommodation and local activity. Guests should be comfortable with sustained ascent, variable weather and basic sanitation, and should approach sacred places as visitors rather than treating ceremonies as staged attractions.
Walking and transfer times exclude extended meal, photography and weather delays; the guide may adjust the stopping point when trail, road, aviation or group-safety conditions require it. Check-in and departure may involve waiting, and the operating company or pilot may alter the timing, routing or landing plan for safety.
