How difficult is Thorong La?

The pass day is long, cold and strenuous, with a pre-dawn start and altitude above 5,400 m.

Can we cross in winter?

Only when snow, avalanche risk, lodges and the guide’s assessment permit it; closures are possible.

Why is Manang acclimatization important?

It allows the body more time to adjust before sleeping higher toward Yak Kharka and Thorong Phedi.

Can road construction change the walking route?

Yes. Road access on both sides of the circuit changes frequently and affects start, finish and transfer times.

Are the required permits included?

Required conservation-area or restricted-area permits are arranged only when they are listed in the confirmed package. Restricted routes may require an authorized guide and additional documentation.
